Description

Vox Lux begins in 1999 when teenage sisters Celeste (Raffey Cassidy) and Eleanor (Stacy Martin) survive a seismic, violent tragedy. The sisters compose and perform a song about their experience, making something lovely and cathartic out of catastrophe — while also catapulting Celeste to stardom. By 2017, the now 31-year old Celeste (Natalie Portman) is a mother to a teenage daughter of her own and struggling to navigate a career fraught with scandals when another act of terrifying violence demands her attention.

  • NOTHING Like The Preview!!! Absolutely HORRENDOUS!!!

Normally I don’t write reviews unless I really like something, but in this case I HAD to!! Watched this based on the preview and it was a COMPLETE waste of time and money! Not much of a story here, girl gets shot at school, gets famous as a singer, fame gets to her and she goes off the rails mentally and emotionally .... THAT’S IT! Normally I really like Natalie Portman but this movie is only good if you want to waste roughly two hours of your life.
  • Hot Garbage

Good acting, terrible screenplay and just a bad, incoherent plot that comes close to captivating the viewer. I regret wasting the time watching this movie instead of watching reruns of regular season NBA games from 1998.
  • Painful

I don’t know if this movie is painful because the movie is so bad or because the acting is so good you’re embarrassed by the characters’ actions and dialogue. The scenes are disjointed and full of missed opportunities. I’m thinking the director was trying to relate something deeper and more meaningful than what he was actually able to achieve. A big miss for me.

This movie is the definition of atrociously bad, from story to acting to directing...SMH. One of the worst films of Natalie Portman and Jude Law’s careers. I cannot believe I wasted two hours of my life watching this garbage.
  • Only Watch the Last 15 minutes

If you are troubled by gun violence and school shooting don't watch the beginning of the movie, nor the rest of this rambling, babbling crazy nonsense but if you like hightech tunes the last 15 minutes is worth renting - hopefully you can get this for 99 cents as its not worth much more than that and NOT at all if you want to see a room of high school students killed #fail
  • Hmmm... kill a deer or watch this?

If a role calls for an accent of any kind, it's only going to work if the actors can do that accent without it sounding like a speech impediment. it is one of the many things that made this movie painful to watch. the bad acting and horrible direction also made this movie awful. The trailer is the best part of this movie. watch that and save your money. Sad, because i'm a big fan of the cast and Sia... but nothing can save this mess. it's less painful to watch "the killing of a sacred deer."

As a big movie buff and Natalie porter fan, I wanted to like this but really didn’t. I don’t normally say this about any movies but I wouldn’t waste your time

This movie is completely incredible and wise to the bigger forces operating in the world today. I don’t know why people hate on it, it’s honestly one of the best films of 2018, and 2028 tbh. It’s a more palatable example of the French/Cannes view of modernity, and it’s a gd classic.
  • Not so good

In the beginning it seemed like it had potential. The story was intriguing, but then then it devolved into total self indulgent irrelevancy. The movie was progressively boring until the ending which was an anticlimactic disappointment.
  • AWFUL. TOTAL TRASH

I love Natalie Portman but this film was LITERALLY unwatchable - I tried only for her but even that wasn't worth it. The directing and all acting was pure crap. I can't write a bad enough review, but this movie isn't worth any more of my time. ZERO stars.
