This show is a true masterpiece – in my opinion of course. Watching Jackie struggle to be a nurse, raise a family, think about her life, think about her happiness, think about her children’s happiness, and most importantly – face her addictions – this series is incredible. Start to finish. Watching everything comes crashing down for Jackie, then she gets back up only to self-sabotage and indulge in her love of pills and opiates. She falls, stands up, falls, and stands up again. Watching this rollercoaster of Jackie put so much care into her job and those around her, while secretly using those around her for her own gain is a mind game that keeps us wanting to see who and how Jackie manipulates to get her way again and again. I love Jackie and watching her life implode because it’s so freakin’ entertaining – but also this show has brought many tears to my eyes. I have cried for the patients Jackie cares for, for the friends in her life, and for Jackie herself when she just can’t shake the demons she has inside her. This series is beautiful and I hope you watch it if you’re considering it because it’s worth it (plus there’s seven seasons of awesome storytelling, drama, comedy, and lovable characters you find room in your heart for. Give Jackie a chance – you’ll shout at her for her mistakes but you’ll cheer at her victories too. I’ll bet $5 you’ll cry at the end of series finale too. ;) Alright! Watch episode one!
