Description

Raised as brothers, teammates and competitors on the soccer field - the gregarious, swaggering Julio (Eliú Armas) and the wiry, focused Daniel, nicknamed “Gato” (Fernando Moreno), have remained virtually inseparable ever since Daniel was found abandoned in a trash heap as a newborn in their Caracas slum. The opportunity of their lives arrives when a scout invites them to try out for the city's top professional team, just as a tragic act of violence threatens to tear them apart and prevent them from achieving their dreams.

This film is an incredible story beyond believe. It is a masterpiece in all aspects of film making, and because of this film I personally have completely changed the way I look at "The Academy Awards" because frankly this film without a shadow of a doubt should have taken every award in it's path. And to not even be nominated is just a disgrace and a slap to the face to everyone that was part of this remarkable film. P.s I have never cried so much in my life.

My family is from Venezuela and that is why I ended up watching this movie. I think Hermano is an excellent story that shows all the curve balls life can throw at you, and how important the foundation of a family can be.

If you are into cinema-verite, and into great films that will leave you thinking about it for days than look no further. Hermano is a great piece of international cinema, it tells a story of two brothers who grow up in slums with only one way out, to achieve the dream of playing for FC Caracas. If you like films such as City of God or Goal you will love this film. Don't pass up the chance of watching this great film, you won't regret it.
