I was really surprised by this movie. Its a mix of corporate intrigue, "The International" and a Bond movie (the best parts of Skyfall). - there's a scene exactly like one in Skyfall but this one was done better. The story is subtle, fast paced but not a frantic one, the villain is not clear right away. It's mostly a thinking movie with some of action - which actually isn't need to make the movie great. No fancy CGI, no fancy gadgets, no overly "Impossible" escapes or missions. Just a great story. What a concept! I did find some of the flash back sequences a bit hard to follow. Of course it is a french film so things are not always done like were used to and as cleanly tied up as we're used to. But I've actually wanted to go back and watch it a few times - there so much detail to catch. There already is a sequel - "The Burma Conspiracy" (2008). I've heard they're starting a third one. And they might do a Hollywood version, like they did with "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". I hope this is available for purchase soon.
  • The best Bond movie without the boring parts!

An unbelievable thrill ride that takes place in many exotic locations ,with beautiful babes and great action sequences. A truly modern work of international cinema where people speak many different languages and yet all seem so connected. This movie reminded me of the spy thrillers made in the 70's with an all international cast except now high finance and corporate raids are replacing Cold War era spy games. This movie is far more exciting than any James Bond movie made in the past couple of decades. This is what the overrated Skyfall should have been. The only minor issue was the lead actor, although handsome his hair looked really terrible with either bad extensions or a rug over his own North African hair.

  • Starts great, ends so weak it can barely stand

Good premise, well acted, interesting development, even a little humor, then falls over from the weight of its own seriousness.

This is a good one. Great pace and plenty of twists and turns. They could have actually added another 20 minutes and added some more development of plot and characters to make it easier for some people to follow, but otherwise, I thought it was very well done.

Best movie seen in a long time. The plot is quite unpredictable.
  • Cultural differences respected –

Follow the lead of cultural differences to attain a goal. Corporate greed is a great venue for action adventure now if the writers can stand the heat. This movie drips with intellectual leadership. Just takes someone of above average intelligence to appreciate the obscure and oh-so-deep subject matter. Most folks will hate not being able to follow the plot if they can't figure it out in the first five minutes. Gratuitous is not the byword here. Love-love-love these characters.

Fun little romp. Not nearly as confusing as the reviews make it out to be.
  • Interesting Beginning

If the tomato meter critics are to be believed there are already plans for a sequel which I am looking forward to. When dealing with the world of high finance nothing is as it seems and this movie is no exception. All the characters are mysterious. You never really know where their true allegiance lies. Aside from the Largo character itself I was really impressed by Melanie Thierry's (the girl from Babylon A.D.) character whose name changed repeatedly. As an assassin / spy / ?? she was always changing it up. You never know whose side she is on or why. Hopefully it is a relationship they explore more in part 2. This movies biggest downfall was the editing. If you can get past the rather ham handed job they did jumping back and forth in the story line telling how Largo was found and raised with what is actually going on then you will find a rather well thought out story.
