Upstanding Texas State Armadillos upstanding coach Ed Gennero (Hector Elizondo) must put together a brand-new team after a corruption scandal nearly ends the football program. When he recruits Paul Blake (Scott Bakula), a 34-year-old former high school star, he soon realizes the player has the arm, but will need more to score with a motley team that includes a samurai lineman, a butterfingered receiver, and a strongman with eyes for the placekicker (Kathy Ireland).
