Beautiful scenery. A movie making embarrassment on every level. Ugh.

Being a fan of westerns, and of Richard Widmark and Jimmy Stewart, I thought this was a very good movie. As for mandan101, instead of writing stupid racist remarks, why don't you say something intelligent and tell us what Ford got wrong...or do you know?

John Ford was just another white man trying to explain a culture not his own.

John Ford's depiction of the plight of the Native American in the West is one of the most accurate and authentic portrayals I have ever seen.
At the same time the breath-taking Monument Valley setting for parts of the movie has a way of pulling you into every scene and makes the film even more gripping. I've watched Cheyenne Autumn on several occasions, and it never ceases to impact me both emotionally and visually.
