Where’s is the talented people, oh yes DEAD! This annoying children version has awful characters with no charisma nor beauty nor personality just pure bubble heads. Movies now are sad and empty.
Why add nudity??

Why in the world would they add nudity to Jane Austen? The author is good enough to not add that garbage. It ruined the movie and we stopped it and returned it for a refund. Not recommend for family viewing. On sale for $4 but they couldn’t pay me to have this junk in my library. No thanks.

A wonderful adaption of the beloved book. Stayed true to the book and was very engaging. A great cast that had players from previous period pieces that I have seen.
Not as good…

After watching this version of Emma, I prefer the version starring Gweneth Paltrow. The actors in this film have absolutely no chemistry and the acting is terrible, not enough emotion. Beautiful costumes though.
Sparkling!

Everyone gave it poor ratings because of the studio’s rent price hike during the pandemic— understandable, I disagreed with it too— but it’s disappointing that it tanked the average rating. That aside, the movie was fantastic. Lively, fresh, moving. The acting was spectacular, the screenplay is not perfect but still sparkles. This is an adaptation that will likely make purists a bit uncomfortable but any true lover of literature and film as art forms will find this just delightful on every account.
Maybe too sexy for Jane Austen, but very good

This is the last movie my wife and I saw in a theater before the first Covid shutdowns in the US. We both thought it was great. The movie captures the intensity of Austen’s story.

I liked the 1995 version much better.
There were some standout performances in this version, but it felt forced and paraphrased, if that makes sense. It just didn’t flow well.
The version with Gwenyth Paltrow and Toni Collette is my favourite.
An Okay Version

This movie was okay but not great. I've seen at least two other versions that were better. The 2009 television version with Romola Garai was superior in every way. One thing that distracted me from the beginning was the strange looks of the lead actress. To me, she looked like some sort of giant-eyed alien and I couldn't get past it. Also, Emma's father as played by Bill Nighy was rather odd. It seemed like either a bad interpretation of a character by Nighy or an waste of an incredible actor given poor direction. I guess I'm trying to say the movie was pretty much a non-starter for me.
Boring, uneventful

I rented this bc my wife loves these types of movies. Like pride and prejudice. She fell asleep and I was very unpleased. Not at all good
Perfect Austin...

I had to wait to see if the price came down! No reflection on the movie. The costumes, Mr. Knightly, Harriet and the Westin’s all come to life with a stroke of the directors touch. Anya is a perfect Emma. She is stuck up an annoying! You just want to slap her.
