Description

The incredible true story of Olympic legend Jesse Owens is vividly brought to life in Race. In his epic quest to be the greatest athlete in history, Owens (Stephan James, Selma) chooses to compete in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, where he must overcome not only elite competition, but also the brutal racial climate of Adolf Hitler's Germany. Also starring Jason Sudekis (We're the Millers) and Academy Award® winners Jeremy Irons and William Hurt, Race is a film about courage, determination, tolerance, friendship and trust that critics are calling "Movie magic!" (Brian Truitt, USA TODAY).

This movie was not nearly as good as it should have been. It all felt very rushed, every single scene. The acting and direction were average at best. The material and history are so interesting, there was so much potential here. This is an incredible athlete that deserved a much better movie. These are the kind of true stories that can make award winning movies...so disappointing that this film and story wasn't treated with more love by the filmmakers.
  • Completely inaccurate

Owens stated that he didn't experience racism in Germany and was actually treated better there than in the United States.

This movie failed miserably. Too many historical inaccuracies and poor acting. I hope the Owens family had nothing to do with the making of this trash.
  • Interesting to learn more about '36 Olympics

A good story of Jesse Owens. Little did I know the decision to attend the 1936 Olympics in Nazi Germany was so politically charged and controversial at the time. I also did not know that Avery Brundage, the only President of the International Committee that came from the U.S., had collaborated with the Nazis for his personal gain in business.
